Our team of executives
Jean-Guy Desjardins, Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer of Fiera Capital Corporation, began his career at Sun Life Insurance Company as an Analyst and Portfolio Manager. In 1972, Mr. Desjardins co-founded TAL Global Asset Management, and was its principal shareholder until its purchase by a financial institution. Mr. Desjardins then acquired, in 2003, 70% of the assets under management and key professionals of Elantis Investment Management, to create Fiera Capital. The firm continued its expansion with the acquisition of Senecal Investment Counsel in 2005, YMG Capital Management in 2006, Sceptre Investment Counsel in 2010, and Natcan Investment Management, a subsidiary of the National Bank of Canada, in 2012. In 2013 came the acquisitions of the institutional markets business of UBS and then GMP, renamed Fiera Quantum, a Fiera Capital controlled subsidiary that manages alternative strategies. As part of its North American expansion strategy initiated in 2011 with the opening of its first office in the United States, the firm also acquired a prominent wealth management firm in Los Angeles (Bel Air Investment Advisors), and a global asset manager in New York City, Wilkinson O’Grady. Fiera Capital Corporation is an independent, publicly-listed investment management firm, and one of Canada’s leading investment managers.
Mr. Desjardins is currently a member of the Board of Directors of the Société de services financiers Fonds FMOQ Inc., HEC Montréal, DJM Capital Inc., Centria Inc., Fiera Axium Infrastructure Inc., where he is also a member of the Investment Committee, and he serves as Chairman of Board of Fiera Properties Limited. He served as a member of the Board of Directors of Bank of Canada for five years, and was elected lead director in 2007.
Mr. Desjardins graduated from Collège Mont-Saint-Louis in 1966 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. In 1969, he earned his L.Sc.comm., (Finance) from the École des Hautes Études commerciales – Université de Montréal. Mr. Desjardins is also a CFA Charterholder
Since 2011, as president and chief operating officer of Centria, Jean Gamache contributes to a healthy growth of the company by using best practices of management skills along while respecting rigorous rules of conformity and supervising different transactions.
Mr. Gamache has more than 20 years’ experience in financing, in which he had under his responsibility 1.7 billion $ in assets under real estate management and 1 billion $ in assets under management of commercial loans. For 5 years, he supervised all the real estate transactions of a large Canadian bank. For the same bank, he had under his responsibility the parameterization comities of risk models, so that the institution complied with the Basel Accord for the real estate and commercial sectors. Mr. Gamache is proud to have been the financial partner of more than 500 Quebec and Canadian businesses.
He holds a bachelor or commerce in finance and an MBA specialized in financial services. Jean Gamache has a passion to accompany enterprises for their strategic development plans.
Since 2009, Richard Cousineau has led his team towards the healthy development of Centria’s Financial Construction Funds and has established solid business partners with leading Quebec entrepreneurs.
Mr. Cousineau has more than 30 years’ experience in the real estate and financial fields. Before his arrival at Centria, he was asked to review the financial real estate policies for one of the most important fund managers in Quebec. He was also responsible for the professional development plan of all real estate financing directors for one of the largest Canadian banks. He has been responsible for more than 3.5 billion dollars of real estate financing.
Richard Cousineau holds a Bachelor of Commerce in Administration from UQAM. He is equally a chartered real estate valuator and accredited to the Canadian Institute of Chartered Valuators and real estate broker.
After 25 years of experience in company financing and business development for large financial institutions, Jacques Marchand joined the Centria team to create a business Evolution fund Centria Capital in 2013.
During his career, he has contributed to the financing of development of a large number of medium/large companies, which permitted him to develop very close ties with many entrepreneurs and experts of the market everywhere in Quebec. He has also participated in the creation of a company which financed equipment held equally by two Quebec financial institutions and also led one of the most important teams of commercial financing in Quebec with more than 1.5 billion $ in assets under management.
Jacques Marchand holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from HEC Montréal, specialized in financing and accounting and a MBA from UQAM, specialized in financial services. His passion is to support companies so they can surmount difficult moments and accompany entrepreneurs in the realization of their projects by giving them financial assistance.
Pierre Pelletier joined the Centria team for the launch of Real Estate Investment Centria Capital I fund in the beginning of year 2014.
During his 19 years of experience in finance, which includes more than 12 years of real estate investment, Mr. Pelletier had under his responsibility more than 1 Billion $ in assets under management for the development of 2700 residential units, which range from 1.2 million sq. ft. of office space. Mr. Pelletier participated in the creation of 4 successful real estate funding’s, and had the responsibility of many real estate investments, totalizing 350 million under management. Amongst his accomplishments, he is proud to have been the financial partner for the development of the last phases of ''Quartier Dix30'' for 1.4 million sq. ft. and for the ''Groupe Maurice'' for the development of 7 properties totalizing 2300 apartments along with the assets management of 19 residences.
Pierre Pelletier holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from HEC Montréal. His passion is to favor the development of companies whom he works with by supplying the financial means to realize such large projects.
